Corrugated board industry preparing themselves for “Industry 4.0”

The European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) yearly invites its members to their well-known technical workshop which was held in Barcelona, Spain, this year. The event has met all expectations with 958 participants and representatives and reported a new record in visitor numbers. 76 exhibitors, 110 exhibition booths, a great number of spotlight product presentations and 16 presentations with specialists in this field made this international conference worth visiting it.

T.CON, awarded with the SAP Gold Partner status, was also invited to present and speak about the central topic of the conference “Corrugated 4.0: Smart Factories for Flexibility and Efficiency”: T.CON’s Senior Consultant Mr. Peter Flieher focused on “Requirements and Road Map to Industry 4.0” and provided the audience with information on the way to the forth industrial revolution on the basis of “Internet of Things” (IoT).

During the workshop, technologies like cloud computing, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT) and intelligent automation were presented. Participants were informed on how these breaking technologies can improve industrial quality, reduce waste and accelerate production. This will also change the corrugated board industry. Mr. Roberto Villaquiran, who is president of the FEFCO, appealed to all members of the corrugated board industry and their partner companies to think about producing better and more sustainable products with the help of these new technologies.
