ContactPlattling, Germany, June 2014 – SAP Channel Partner T.CON GmbH & Co. KG has developed an intuitively operated template for B2B portals based on the SAP HANA Cloud Portal and the User Interface Development Toolkit for HTML5 from SAP (SAPUI5). It is operated on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform and can be integrated with the SAP ERP application. Using this template, companies seeking to communicate more efficiently and effectively with customers, suppliers, partners and employees can develop and implement a custom-tailored portal solution with their own corporate design. T.CON's offer is targeted at companies in every industry and of every size which already use SAP ERP and which want to expand the capabilities of the ERP software using a cloud-based B2B portal in an easy and cost-effective way.
The heart of the cloud-based template is comprised of so-called widgets, with which the relevant contents can be displayed clearly in the portal interface. This content includes things such as current orders (with order number and date), vouchers and inventories from the SAP ERP application, as well as images, videos and links to websites. Thanks to a modern user interface, which was designed using SAPUI5 and the responsive web design technology, the application can be operated in the same way on any terminal, whether its a desktop PC or a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet. This enables end users to work conveniently and efficiently, anytime and anywhere.
When implementing the portal solution, only minimal initial costs are involved, as it is obtained from the SAP computer center using the cost-effective rental model. The required IT infrastructure and database/user services are provided via the SAP HANA Cloud Platform as a "Platform as a Service" (PaaS). This means no time or money is required for maintenance and administration, and even release changes are unnecessary, as SAP automatically provides the respective current version of the SAP HANA Cloud Portal.
The exchange of information with external partners using a B2B portal based on the SAP HANA Cloud Portal occurs in accordance with the highest security standards here. All the required data, such as customer order and inventory data, remain at the company, as it is only handled in an SAP ERP application operated on the premises. Data transfer between the applications, which are linked to one another through the Cloud Connector, occurs over an encrypted SSL-VPN connection and according to the reverse invoke principle. Two-way authorization and fine-grained access control also contribute to high connection and data security here.
"As an 'early adopter', T.CON picks up new SAP technologies like the SAP HANA Cloud Platform, the SAP HANA Cloud Portal and SAPUI5 early on and implements solutions which correspond to the business needs of the customer based on this. This includes, for example, our template for a B2B portal which features contemporary interfaces and which can be used on any terminal, regardless of whether it's a desktop PC, smartphone or tablet," commented Norbert Kölbl, Head of Innovations and New Technology at T.CON GmbH & Co. KG.
